The open day event is a long-term tradition of Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the National Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). The event takes place every two years, and its objective is to encourage citizens to discover the innovative research conducted in their city, and to present the research development and efforts to business representatives that seek for potential collaborations. The event is organized in cooperation with the General Secretariat of Research and Technology.

The European Control Conference (ECC) is the annual conference promoted by the European Control Association and is intended to provide a stimulating environment for a productive exchange of ideas and developments in the area of systems and control and their applications. In 2016, for the first time the ECC took place in Scandinavia with its strong tradition of advanced control theory and industrial applications of this. ECCC 2016 was held in Aalborg, Denmark on June 29 - July 1, 2016.
